Evolution of the East Carpathian's pre-Alpine metamorphosed lithological and tectonic units is outlined from the Precambrian to the Carboniferous. According to lithologic, lithostratigraphic and metallogenetic data, the possibility of correlation between some of the East and West Carpathian units is suggested.
